Resting masked Dogon dancers | Bandiagara escarpment, Mali
The Dogon people of Mali are renowned for their traditional masked dances which honour the death of an elder community member. The full three day ritual is performed less often nowadays due to the great expense, but abbreviated dances are performed for foreign visitors.
